Florida Department of Health Promotes Generator Safety Ahead of 2022 Disaster Prepardness Tax Holiday

Tallahassee, Fla.— On May 6, 2022, Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 7071 authorizing a Disaster Preparedness Supplies Sales Tax Holiday from May 28 to June 10, 2022. This tax holiday includes portable generators and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors/alarms*.
The current weekly testing schedule is as follows: • Wednesdays – Florida Department of Health in Dixie County – 8:30 am. • Thursdays – Florida Department of Health in Levy County – 8:30 am. • Fridays – Florida Department of Health in Gilchrist County – 8:30 am. The most up to date information will be posted at Gilchrist.floridahealth.gov. Individuals may also contact the Health Department at 352-463-3120.
