Family Planning Services
Family planning plays a key role in the prevention of unintended pregnancy, including teen pregnancy. Preventing unintended pregnancy also reduces the incidence of abortion and improves birth outcomes. In addition, family planning information, education, and services reduce both the incidence and impact of sexually transmitted diseases through screening and treatment.Services available include pregnancy testing and counseling, physical examinations, screening for hypertension, breast and cervical cancer, and sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV counseling and testing. Also available is counseling and education for health promotion and disease prevention. Follow-up and referral services are offered based on the individual's history and need for medical and/or social services.
If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant there are steps you can take for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. The healthier you are, the better chance you have of your baby being born healthy.
