Mobile home and recreational vehicle parks are defined as a place set aside and offered by a person, for either direct or indirect payment to the owner, lessor, or operator of such place, for the parking, accommodation, or rental of five or more mobile homes or recreational vehicles.

The Florida Department of Health in Gilchrist County ensures that residents and visitors to parks and camps are provided with proper sewage disposal and adequate sanitary facilities and conditions. This is accomplished through inspection, permitting, and enforcement of environmental health standards at these facilities.

Permits are valid from October 1 through September 30 and must be applied for and renewed annually.
